Cause I really love 4 day weekends, 5 actually. I"m leaving for MA tomorrow AM. I took tomorrow off. The thought of spending another long weekend bored. Sitting out on the pier at the club listening to music I don't like and hear ALL THE TIME. With my book. All of this was simply unbearable for me.
I do have a doctors appointment on Monday morning at 10am. So I will be returning to NY on Sunday evening. I wanted to try and reschedule my appt to friday AM then head to MA until tuesday, but pete claims that he will not survive that long with me gone. I beleive it would be a combination of starving to death, alcohol poisoning and depression that would eventually do him in. And really, how in good concience can I let him have a free for all 4 day weekend? My job as wife it to ensure that he keeps in line. or at the very least to nag and complain on a regular basis. I would be doing an injustice to my babies if i didn't.
I'm pretty sure i've felt the babies moving twice now. The first time i wasn't sure, although i thought that was what i was feeling, i had to accept that it could have just been gas gurgling around. When I felt the SAME thing again last night I concluded that it is in fact them. And it's amazing.
I find that as my doctors appointments get closer and closer I get more and more nervous. Scared that something will be wrong. That we have lost one of our precious babies. The stress and anxiety increases daily until i get to the doctors about to bust. I cannot WAIT to see their little heartbeats. Strong. and See them dancing around and beating each other up.
I finally bought them their first thing. They are called snuggle sacks. They are made of the same material as uggs. Natural in color, suede like outside and sherpa lining inside. The fit into the carseats and have an opening in the back for that purpose. You plop them into this when going out rather than struggling with coats etc. They were on sale. I did want to get them for like a month. I waited. Finally i caved and got them and I DO NOT regret it.
I really cannot wait until we know for certain if they are girls or boys. I see so much cute stuff on sale all the time. It's really difficult not to get them stuff.

NEGATIVE
I JUST spoke with my doctor and got the rest of the test results. Negative for Te Sachs and cystic fybrosis! YAAYYY! There is a little mix up with my blood type. They have it as A positive, I've always known it to be A negative. No biggie, they are going to RE-test me at my next appointment (July 3rd).
Also, I spoke with him about that appointment. I was a little bothered by the fact that I was not schedule to have an Ultrasound. In all my research I've read that with twins, you have an U/s every 4 weeks. I asked him why I wasn't having one, and he said that they would give me a quick one, just to see both heartbeats and make sure they're both OK, but I won't have a FULL one until my next appointment after that, end of July/Beggining of August.
I got pretty sick yesterday. Really nauseaus and EXHAUSTED! I'm pretty sure it was from being dehydrated, I definitely didn't drink enough water yesterday, and this heat has been torture. So, now i'm forcing down the water. I'll be floating away soon.
The doc also told me he doesn't suggest I bowl tomorrow night. (work outing). Basically, at 13.5 weeks with twins, you're more like 20 weeks wiht a single pregnancy. My center of gravity is off and so is my balance (hence the chopped up leg from saturday night). It's really OK. I'm just about the worst bowler in the world. So instead of everyone laughing at me, i'll just sit there and make fun of THEM!

1 in 3800, I'll take those chances
I got the final downs syndrome test results yesteday. While these tests only have a 70% detection rate in twins, they DID come back negative. The chances of the girls having Downs is now 1 in 3800, pretty good in my book.
We've got a crazy long weekend ahead of us! Tonight is the rehearsal dinner, tomorrow Mani/Pedi, and go get my dress and Saturday is the wedding. We've got to be at the hair place at 9am shampoo'ed, dried and ready to go. From there we get makeup, dressed, and the photographer arrives at 2. Church is at 3:30 followed by pictures. The reception starts at 7 i believe. I've already warned Jeanne that i'll likely be sleeping in the bridal suite by 9pm... I can't imagine how i'm going to make it through the day. I'm sure it'll all work out, I just want the day to go very smoothely.
My dress fits perfectly now after being taken out about an inch to accomodate the girls. There was an accident while it was being pressed last night so the dress people sent it to the dry cleaners. I'm picking it up tomorrow. Here's hoping they can get the water stains out!

It's GOOD for me!!
Well, sort of. In the past week i've actually been able to consume foods with some nutritional value! Now let's not get crazy, i wouldn't call it all health food, but Nutritional Value! YIPEEE!! The babies will now allow me to eat Cottage cheese with pinapples (1%)(HEALTHY!), YoCrunch (you know, vanilla yogurt with mini reeses pieces or crushed up oreo, yogurt has protein! And Calcium!), Salad! and Cucumbers! (of course they must be covered in a creamy bad for me dressing like ranch or creamy italian, but still! VEGGIES!!).
In case you haven't been privy to my eating patterns of the last 2 months or so, my diet has consisted mostly of the following: Macaroni & Cheese, Pizza, grilled cheese, cup-o-noodles, ice cream, pancakes & waffles, and chef boyardi beef ravioli & spagettio's.. Not exactly healthy. NOT exactly Ideal when you're trying to be the nutritional source for 2 babies! Thank god for prenatal vitamins! I am even able to drink milk now, sometimes.
It is still extremely doubtful that I will EVER eat Grilled chicken again, as just typing it out made me start gagging like a 3 year old when forced to eat peas.
Now it's back to my salad with cheddar cheese, egg, kidney beans & cherry tomatoes, drenched in ranch dressing of course..

In the beginning
Well, i guess it's not the beginning, but for the purposes of this blog it is. I figure it's a good idea to have a place to journal my pregnancy with all it's ups, downs and everything in between. Here goes..
On April 11th, the day of the Yankees home opener, I found out I was pregnant. I took a test early that morning. Being such a monumental day, the yankee home opener, I knew I'd be drinking like a thirsty sailor, and figured, while i didn't think I was pregnant, I'd just double check. Well much to my surprise and excitement. POSITIVE! And so was the next one and the next one. Yes, I took 3 tests that morning, much to Pete's prodding.
I went to the doctor on the following Thursday, April 20th and we saw a single little happy gestational sack. I was scheduled to return 2 weeks later for another U/S to make sure that things were progressing properly and being that that would be approximately 8 weeks, Pete came along cause we were expecting to hear the heartbeat!
We went to my appointment on May 4th and went in for the Ultrasound. Pete was extremely freaked out by the Internal Ultrasound equipment... AKA Dildo ultrasound, but he was good and got over it quickly. As we were watching the screen the tech asked us whether this was our first child and we said Yes. She said "OK, well.. There are 2." As you can imagine. We. Freaked. Out. There were many tears (of Joy) and many "Holy Shits" and "Jesus Christs" (sorry about that god). We saw and heard BOTH heartbeats that day and were informed that because of the fact that there had originally been only 1 sack and that they were still seemingly undivided in 1 sack, they were likely identical. Problem being they did NEED to be separated and hopefully a thin membrane would form soon.
Our next appointment was Monday May 22nd. Again Pete joined me. The FIRST thing we saw in the ultrasound was that the Membrane formed! What a releif! This time we saw and heard heartbeats but we also saw "Baby A" wiggling around and shaking her booty... It was so exhilarating. What a surreal experience! Once again we were told that both babies look great, and healthy and all my levels etc. are perfect. Next appt. with my doctor, Monday July 3rd.
On June 7th, i was scheduled to meet with a genetic counselor and the high risk docs. They were to do the Downs syndrome test and check my cervix. Pete could not join me this time, so Alicia did. Let me say in advance, she was on her BEST behavior. I was very impressed. The genetic counselor was very thorough and interesting and I was glad to have Alicia with me, because she remembered many things I didn't. Then came the tests. First of all, for this ultrasound BOTH babies were sleeping. Baby A was in good position so she did the measurement portion of the Downs test and it was small (which is what you want). Baby B was not cooperating so we had to wake them up by me flopping around and shaking my torso. Eventually they BOTH woke up and while we did get Baby B's measurement (also small) we also got to see them both going crazy. Kicking each other and spazzing out. They took a bunch of blood and are running tests for Te Sachs and Cystic fibroses, i won't have those results for a couple of weeks. The downs blood test i'll have tomorrow.
Much to our surprise the tech told us that while it is early, and we should not paint the nursery or buy wardrobes yet... She thinks they are GIRLS!! I'm very excited. Pete while a little dissapointed, is very happy they are both healthy and is coming around quickly to the idea of girls. He now asks me all the time "how his girls are".. I think he's just really scared of 2 teenage daughters...
I'll attach the pictures later, not working right now..
I will update when i have more to share..
